About Le Nutcracker

Le Nutcracker Showgirl Spectacular is a Bob Mackie–style fever dream inspired by the storyline of the classical Nutcracker ballet. The party-goers are replaced with raunchy swingers, the rats wear 8-inch boots, and we’ve traded in the Land of Sweets for the Land of the Showgirls. Making its world premiere at The Annex in Vancouver on December 10th, this new holiday tradition brings together extravagant costume design, comedic twists on the classic tale, and a spectacular ensemble of showgirls.

How to Audition
These courses for Le Nutcracker are designed for experienced, advanced, and pre-professional dancers to flex their showgirl repertoire and perform in a professional-calibre ensemble production. The first day of each course serves as both a class and an audition. To audition, dancers should register for Audition Day / Course Day 1 only.

Following the audition, selected dancers will be invited to complete their registration by purchasing the Course Fee + Production Fee for their role. Production fee will cover costume rental and other production-related costs. Production fees vary based on intricacy of the role’s costume. Dancers who are not selected to perform will be offered the opportunity to continue training in the remainder of the course by purchasing the Course Fee only.

Please do not purchase the Production Fee until casting has been confirmed. Casting results will be sent within 24 hours of Day 1.  

About the Boobie Bon Bons
In the traditional Nutcracker, the Bon Bons are introduced by Mother Ginger and her GRAND dress, large enough to fit 8-12 small children underneath. The dress then reveals the children, tumbling out onto the stage to do a series of tricks and cartwheels before being hustled back into the dress and off stage. There are no children in this show, but there are dancing breasts. 

Our Mother Ginger is replaced with a Mae West-type bombshell opening the scene with a cheeky monologue-style song about how to wield an ample chest in your favour. Following this introduction, two-by-two and hand-in-hand, the dancing boobs appear. Picture this: multiple pairs of hilariously-sized dancing breasts paired off and cartwheeling around our scenic matriarch, who cheers them on in a state of comical undress. The breasts get a “burlesque” reveal of their own to unveil a gigantic twirling tassel for a big finish.

Role Requirements 

• Open-level, dance experience required, nude character heel required

• Dancers need to be able to battement at eye-level and complete a cartwheel in at least one direction.

No roles are guaranteed, and casting is at the sole discretion of the artistic team. Dancers absent for one or more of the course dates may be recast and removed from the production without refunds. Course fees, Production Fees, and Day 1 class fees are non-refundable - no exceptions.
