MASTERCLASS SERIES

ABOUT MEGAN: Megan Rota is a professional dancer born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. Classically trained across all major dance disciplines, she has spent the past 10 years building a versatile career in the entertainment industry.
Throughout her career, Megan has had the opportunity to perform on cruise ships, in film and television, and in live stage productions. Most recently, she completed a contract with Moulin Rouge in Paris, France where she performed the iconic French can-can and other featured productions, including the 2024 Olympic opening ceremonies and the French National New Years Eve television broadcast on the Champs Elysees.
Now back in Vancouver, Megan is excited to share the knowledge and experience she has gained throughout her time in Paris. She looks forward to bringing a fresh perspective to Vancouver's Showgirl community!
ABOUT THE CLASS: Dancers can expect a thorough warmup + choreography session for 90-minutes. The final 30 minutes of the class will be set aside for a Q+A with Megan, as well as a brief talk on her experiences as a professional dancer and showgirl.

Comedy Queens introduces dancers to the art of physical comedy, expressive character work, and comedic timing inspired by icons like Lucille Ball. Learn how to turn movement into storytelling while discovering that sometimes the funniest performance comes from fully committing to the bit.
While this open-level class is not intended for absolute beginners, most dancers with 3+ years of dance experience will be able to jump in and have fun.
Physical comedy fundamentals

A fun choreographed combination blending dance with theatrical comedy
Heels or soft, non-marking sole shoes are appropriate for this class.

Channel the power, precision, and performance quality of high-kicking precision jazz. This class focuses on clean lines, synchronization, sharp musicality, jazz tech, and polished stage presence.
Expect a high-energy session featuring:
• Jazz technique and conditioning
• Precision-style movement and formations
• Performance quality and musicality
• Across-the-floor exercises
• Choreography in a Radio City jazz-style
Designed for dancers with an existing jazz foundation who are ready to challenge themselves in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Cabaret Ballet blends classical ballet technique with the more erotic styling of dancing in heels. Set to contemporary music, this intermediate-advanced class explores long lines, expressive port de bras, fluid movement, and sensual performance quality through choreography inspired by The Lolas’ cabaret style.
This 90-minute ballet-in-heels class is designed for dancer with at least intermediate heels + ballet experience. Dancers can expect:
A thorough warmup + conditioning exercises to begin
A playlist of more contemporary and popular music
A choreographed combo fusing ballet technique + heels styling
Commercial booties or pumps are appropriate for this class.

Come for the crisp timing and clean lines, stay for the iconic New-York styling! Precision Tap focuses on musicality, unison, and polished execution, blending classic tap technique with the precision and performance quality seen in large ensemble productions in New York.
Designed for intermediate to advanced tappers, this class will explore:
Clean, synchronized tap combinations
Musicality and rhythmic accuracy
Formation awareness and ensemble timing
Performance quality and stage presence
Sharp transitions, clean lines, and precision execution
Experience Level: Intermediate to Advanced. Participants should have a solid foundation in tap technique and be comfortable learning choreography at a moderate pace.

Le Showgirl channels the glamour, precision, and commanding stage presence of classic long-legged showgirl technique. This intermediate-advanced class focuses on long lines, controlled adagio, high kicks, intricate choreography, and a flirtatious performance quality designed to captivate an audience.
This 90-minute class is designed for dancers with an existing jazz foundation who are ready to refine their technique + stage presence. Dancers can expect:
A thorough warmup + conditioning exercises to begin
Adagio, high kicks + exercises focused on lengthening lines
Showgirl technique + choreo exploring poise, musicality + flirtatious and commanding presence

Afro Latin Showgirls is at core of The Lolas’ signature style! This class is a fusion of movement from South American cabarets like The Tropicana blended with the Afro Latin dance roots and rhythms that influenced its choreographers.
This 90-minute class is designed for dancer with at least intermediate dance experience. Dancers can expect:
A thorough warmup + conditioning exercises to begin
A playlist of Afro Latin Jazz
A choreographed combo + time to record yourself at the end (if you wish!)
Soft-sole or flexible-sole heels are the best option for footwear for this class.

Midnight Ballerinas blends erotic floorwork with athleticism, and sensual performance. This advanced class explores fluid leg lines, dynamic floorwork, strength, flexibility, and acro-inspired movement, with each element built into the storytelling and performance quality of the choreography.
This 90-minute class is designed for advanced dancers with strong technical foundations and floorwork experience. Dancers can expect:

Stardust is a dazzling, wordless spy-themed dance comedy where cabaret meets cartoon chaos. Three rival teams of showgirl spies battle through mistaken identities, heists, and heartbreak in pursuit of the stolen Stardust Diamond. Set to a high-energy soundtrack and packed with slapstick humour, cinematic choreography, and a hint of romance, Stardust delivers spectacle, sass, and nonstop physical storytelling that transcends language.
