Comedy Queens introduces dancers to the art of physical comedy, expressive character work, and comedic timing inspired by icons like Lucille Ball. Learn how to turn movement into storytelling while discovering that sometimes the funniest performance comes from fully committing to the bit.

While this open-level class is not intended for absolute beginners, most dancers with 3+ years of dance experience will be able to jump in and have fun.

• Physical comedy fundamentals

• Facial expressions and character development

• Comedic timing and visual storytelling

• Performance quality and stage presence

• A fun choreographed combination blending dance with theatrical comedy

Heels or soft, non-marking sole shoes are appropriate for this class.

Participants acknowledge they may be filmed or photographed during the class for promotional purposes. 

ABOUT THE SERIES

The Summer Showgirl Series is presented by The Lolas and serves as a preview of upcoming training opportunities launching this fall. Throughout the summer, dancers can explore a variety of performance styles, meet guest instructors, and connect with Vancouver's showgirl and cabaret dance community. Additional workshops and guest artists will be announced throughout the season.
